Introduction

As part of our committment to promoting equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, Beyond Barriers (UK) can offer training in a range of areas to statutory and voluntary agencies.

Training on LGBT issues for statutory, voluntary and public sectors

We can provide workshops in a wide range of areas, including:

LGBT awareness raising
transgender issues and gender identity
homophobia, transphobia, biphobia and heterosexism

We use a number of different approaches to training, including participatory appraisal.

We are able to offer a programme of training tailored to the needs of your organisation.

The cost of training is calculated on a sliding scale and takes into account the size and income of the organisation.

Training and capacity building for the LGBT voluntary sector

In addition to training on LGBT issues for employers, we offer free training to help LGBT groups to identify and develop the skills that exist within their organisation.

We work with LGBT groups, offering training and developmental opportunities to help them to build the skills and motivation to meet the needs of their membership and raise awareness of LGBT issues in
their local area.

Equality Policy Development

Beyond Barriers (UK) has produced a toolkit for organisations looking to develop their equality policies and create an LGBT friendly environment for workers and service users.

These guides will help organisations to review their current strategies and policies and develop a greater understanding of existing equalities legislation relevant to LGBT people.
